Day 3 on Mission in Port Hedland

Day 3 was a Monday. The day started at 8am at one of the local primary schools. We did two performances of our singing, dancing, puppet show extravaganza. The first one was a little bit rusty, but we owned it in the second one and really got it together. The kids seemed to respond really well.

The outline of our performance involved singing a couple of songs and getting the kids to move around before doing a dramatic reading and then a puppet show. These were both about how knowing Jesus is the greatest treasure in the world because it gives us peace with God. We then sang the Colin Buchanan "The Greatest Treasure" after that.

Following the school plays we had a team meeting and an amazing lunch provided by the church! This was really good!

We then went to another local primary school for an after school program. Unfortunately not that many kids stayed (we had maybe 10 kids). However, they enjoyed the games we played and we still did the songs and story and puppet show with them.

Following this, the males on the team headed over to a place called "Pretty Pool" for a men's BBQ night. This was really good. I got to have a couple of great chats with some of the locals about their Christian faith, work and family life. A few of the members of the team gave talks about what it means to follow Jesus as a man in the modern world. These were great and everyone there seemed to be listening.

And that was day 3. Encouraging and busy.

Things to pray:
  • Thank God for great weather, not too hot! (Some locals even think it's cold, but they are crazy!)
  • Thank God for the success of the schools shows. Play that we would have planted some seeds that will bear fruit with lives changed by the Gospel.
  • Praise God for the good turn out at the men's BBQ
  • Pray that all the conversations would have been fruitful
  • Pray that the men were challenged to step up and take responsibility
